Color Scheme

After I select my theme the hardest part of the planning process is deciding on a color theme. This project was not different. As I was going through all of the colors and making lists as to why they would or would not work, it suddenly hit me, most of the Death Metal concert goers both from the stars to the audience goers wear black or other dark colors. I like the goth look and so I decided it would be a great idea for this photo-shoot.

Finding an all Black Backdrop was the easy part. Finding a doll that would look good in goth was the hard part. I have to say I am very impressed with the toy market lately; I actually found a new doll that is not the typical Barbie. Although she is not completely true to goth, she does look amazing online. I cannot wait to see what she looks like in person.

Are you into the Punk/Goth look?

  2. It's not really goth but my youngest daughter LOVES the monster high dolls and I like that there's more variety of dolls out there than the typical blond/blue barbie with big boobs.

  12. The Monster High dolls are pretty cute & dark if you are a pre-teen goth perhaps? I bought a bunch of i legged, hair fizzed, shoeless Barbies at a school fete, it was fill a bag for $5, no parent would probably ever give them to their kids but I'm awaiting the perfect goth/steampunk opportunity or maybe just cast them as a dolly version of the Walking Dead ;)

Based on all the comments, I think I will end up using a monster high doll. They are pretty new to me so I am excited.

  19. Black usually is the color..especially for hair, but adding RED in details is amazing. Used a photographer I used to know..would take us to abandoned farm houses for photo shoots or on top of building in our little metropolis for the back drop. I've seen going "White" to be a theme sometimes too. with lots of gold and silver details.

Thank you so much for the note, too.

  26. It's good to know there are different types of dolls on the market now. Can't wait to see more as your project develops! I have to say I don't wear black very much because I have cats with white fur and it gets everywhere! Such a hassle to clean the fur off black so I don't wear it very often.

    1. Lol. I once worked at a house with cats, and the fur got all over me. I know what you mean.

  31. I when I do a photo shoot I always listen to music. The musical style depends on the mood and directly influences the color range that I choose, I plan not normally colors let me conquer them!

  34. I was a bit goth when I was younger and so was my daughter when she was a teenager. Though most of my clothes are still black. I love the goth type dolls that are out now. I actually bought my daughter a Living Dead Doll for her 16th birthday and she loved it. My mom thought I was completely nuts but my daughter loved it so that's all that mattered. Looking forward to seeing what you've done with this one.
